ball fitting close to door frame: 2021-08-14 Panasonic DMC-FT1
I was worried about placing the lower ball fitting too low and causing the gas strut to contact the curve of the door frame when closed. However, I didn't think about the clearance needed between the door and the lower fitting - as you can see here, things are a bit tight. The gas strut end fitting was just touching the door when closed so I had to shave a bit off it. Here you can also see one of my other mistakes - the hole drilled in the wrong flange of the door aperture, now filled with epoxy-flox.
