making witness marks for locking washer: 2022-06-27 Panasonic DMC-FT1
The lock barrel temporarily assembled in the door. I had not originally intended to use the steel toothed washer, but decided it would a useful reinforcement of the oval hole shape, provided I could locate the teeth of the washer within the thickness of the door skin. Here the fixing nut is tightened firmly so the teeth will make witness marks on the aluminium reinforcing plate, for later countersinking to the size of the teeth.
